Princess in the City
For a while I have had an idea for a photo session to do in Dunedin, so when I decided to spend a weekend there recently, I thought who better to be my model than the daughter of my very first client as Stacey Downer Photography - Brooklyn.
I first met Brooklyn, brother Nixon and mum Melissa back in 2011 not long after starting my first Facebook page. During the years that followed, I photographed them numerous times including Melissa and Barry's wedding in Cromwell (as an unofficial second shooter) in 2012.
Unfortunately, on the night of our scheduled session it was pouring down with rain so I had to come up with a plan B - I decided it would be better to do the photos under the shelter of shop awnings on the main street of town and then try heading to Kmart to see if they would let us take some photos in store - which we did (thank you Mr Security Guard!) It was late at night so most of the shops were closed - including access to the bathrooms so we turned an elevator into our changing room and up we went as Brooklyn quickly got changed!
The original idea can wait for another day, I think this ended up being heaps more fun anyway!
On a more personal note: Brooklyn, THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! I couldn't have wished for a better model, I hope you had as much fun as what I did. You are a STAR!
Melissa, a MASSIVE THANK YOU to you and your family for supporting me from the beginning - I appreciate it more than I can put into words. I have loved watching your family grow through the years and I am very appreciative that you continue to support me even after moving 222.4km away!
