The Beginning...

The beginning stages of Stacey Downer Photography started in 2011. I had just purchased my first DSLR camera - around the same time that Andre started school. The time had come for me to follow one of my dreams (down a very long and at times stressful path) and take the advice of many people around me - to start turning my passion into a career.  At that time, I didn't really know what sort of photographer I wanted to be, I just knew that I wanted to be behind the camera capturing moments and memories for other people. I advertised for some models and through a work mate at the time - Melissa found my Facebook page and contacted me. This was the beginning of not only a supportive client relationship but a great friendship too. These were some of the photos from that first session as Stacey Downer Photography...

2012: Melissa & Barry were getting married - by the time I found out, they had already booked their photographer but Melissa suggested I go along as an unofficial second shooter - this was a great experience because I could go around and take some photos without the added pressure of "what if they don't turn out?!" - a FANTASTIC way to practice and something I recommend for any photographer starting out.

It was a very hot day in Cromwell and I was lucky enough to be staying down the road from where the boys were getting ready. The official photographer wasn't going to be taking photos of them getting ready so I was happy to go for a walk down the road to do that side of it. (Little did I know at the time that just over a year later I would be moving into the house next door!)

2011 - 2017: Over the past 6 years, I have photographed the Middleditch family approximately 8 times - including a recent trip to Dunedin where I was lucky enough to get some cute little puppy cuddles with the newest addition to their family - Frankie.

Melissa & Barry, Thank you for your continued support over the years, I have so much fun at our sessions and I look forward to any future sessions we have. Brooklyn & Nixon, you are great models! From a little girl on the beach holding a red balloon and a baby boy sitting on a grassy hill to a city princess walking the streets of Dunedin in the rain and a sporty little boy covered in bruises (and black train track grease!) I'll never forget you! As the sun set on a beautiful Spring day in Dunedin, we went to the beach to take a few photos just as we did

in the beginning.

SPECIAL OFFER!

When going through my hard drives trying to find some old photos to add to this blog, I was slightly embarrassed by some of the photos I found! We all have to start somewhere right!? For so long I thought I wasn't making any progress with my photos but looking back now, I can clearly see the growth!

Have you previously had photos taken by Stacey Downer Photography or do you know anyone who has? I'd like to invite ALL past clients back for a complimentary* session with me for a little "Then and Now" project. Interested? Please contact me HERE or message me via my FACEBOOK page. I can't wait to see how everyone has grown and changed!
